She’s like a diamond in a room full of broken mirrors
She’s like a treasure in the sand
She’s the only one that I could love forever
And not even begin to understand
She’s a rollercoaster ride across the sunset
She’s a fire that always burns
I bet the world spins because the stars above
Just want their chance to stare back down out her
(chorus)
She’s 11 out of 10 but she doesn’t care
From the way that she moves to the clothes that she wears
I’d hang the moon if I could, on a string of pearls
She’s a cool summer night, a breath of fresh air
She’s got diamonds in her eyes and gold in her hair
She’s all the best things in this whole wide world
And she’s my girl
No words in any language could describe her beauty
But she’s as pretty as can be
Way down deep inside her heart is always singin’
And I try to harmonize her melody

It was a huge party. All our friends came out to celebrate with us as we played our last show of a long contract with the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas. As the night came to an end, most everyone went home except a small handful of people.
Long after the show ended, we were still hanging out gambling away our last few chips and trying to sober up. The instruments were still there so we started a little acoustic jam. We must have played another 3 hours. It was hard to keep track of the exact time since the drinking started up again. There was a lot of sloppy noodling going on, but there was one melody we came up with that carried over to the the next morning.
Hung-over and tired, we went in the next day to collect the last of our gear, but not before sitting at the piano to add lyrics to the melody from the night before. We knew it was going to be a love song, which was perfect since our oldest brother, Joel, would be getting married in a few months. If we were to put words into Joel’s mouth, he would say “She’s My Girl”.
