Written while Frankie Moreno was in Hawaiʻi and his brother Tony Moreno was back in Las Vegas, An Ocean Away is a unique collection of songs created entirely over the phone. Separated by thousands of miles, the brothers exchanged ideas through daily calls and voice memos, turning distance itself into the inspiration behind the music.

Originally released as a limited-edition collector’s album and now available digitally worldwide, An Ocean Away explores themes of love, family, friendship, nostalgia, and the places we carry with us wherever life takes us. Influenced by life between Hawaiʻi, and Las Vegas, this album blends heartfelt originals with inspired interpretations of beloved classics, including “I Can See Clearly Now” and “Hawaiʻi.”

INSIDE THE ALBUM with Frankie:

This record began while I was in Hawaiʻi and Tony was in Las Vegas. Separated by an ocean and thousands of miles, we found ourselves writing songs over the phone almost every day. What started as a few song ideas quickly turned into an entire album.

Every song was written long-distance. We traded lyrics, melodies, and voice memos back and forth, creating songs without ever being in the same room. In many ways, the distance became part of the story we were telling.

Inspired by life between Hawaiʻi, and Las Vegas, these songs explore the connections we hold onto despite the miles between us. Some reflect the warmth of the islands, and a few capture the reflection that come with life on the road.

There’s a couple songs we didn’t write on here as well, but the whole album is built around a simple idea: no matter how far apart we may be, the people and places we love are never truly out of reach.
