29 ROYAL STREET
Released February 1, 2001

Frankie Moreno’s 29 ROYAL STREET is a nostalgic nod to the classic Motown sound, where he introduces horns into his music for the first time. This album blends soulful melodies with vibrant brass arrangements, creating a rich, throwback vibe that harkens back to the golden age of the 1960’s. This album showcases Moreno’s ability to capture the essence of a timeless era while infusing it with his own modern flair, making it a standout in his discography, and his first “official” album released.

INSIDE THE ALBUM with Frankie:
This was one of the first professional albums I ever released on CD, and it holds a special place in my heart. It was the first time I walked into a recording studio, led a session with strangers, and brought my vision to life. The experience was incredible and marked a major turning point in my career.

I had recorded several albums before this, starting as a kid with a 4-track or 8-track tape machine, making little cassette tapes once I had enough songs. When CDs became popular, I switched to that format, but for the most part, those recordings were entirely DIY and far from professional.

For this album, I took things to the next level. I even brought in horn players and wrote out charts. Hearing the music come to life was beyond exciting. This was also the first time I really dove into the business side of things. I started my own publishing company and record label, setting the foundation for everything that followed. This album set the trajectory for my future, both musically and professionally.

I named the album “29 Royal Street” because that was the address that Elvis Presley’s character Danny Fisher lived at in the movie “King Creole”. I thought that was a fun and subtle homage to one of my idols.
