INSIDE THE ALBUM with Frankie:
We don’t do a lot of live recordings because I always feel like they can be better, and I hate listening back to a show that was meant to be “in the moment.” But every now and then, it’s fun to capture where we are musically. And I have to admit, during a show, I’m usually lost in my own world, so listening back is sometimes a surprise—I have no idea what I said or did in the moment since it’s all based on pure instinct.
Las Vegas has been incredibly good to us over the years. It gave me the platform to take my music to the next level. We were the first band to be an unknown act, performing 100% original music, to sign a major headlining deal in the city’s history. That was a huge milestone. I thought it might open the door for more bands to follow the original music path, but I guess it’s still a daunting journey for most.
We recorded this particular show in early 2019 and released it in March of that year. It was a great show. The crowd was hot, and the recording turned out well. Whenever we record a live album, we never redo a song. We play the show—period. It is what it is. The live crowd deserves the best we can give, and if we can’t deliver that right out of the gate, then we have no business being in this business. At least, that’s how I see it. I think this album is a great time capsule of where we were at that specific time on that specific day.
