INSIDE THE ALBUM with Frankie:
We were creating a National Television Special for PBS—a live concert in Las Vegas that tickets became so popular for, the venue was oversold. To accommodate everyone, we had to remove all the tables and chairs to make space for the crowd.

Now, I’ve never been a fan of videos or photography. I suppose you could say I’m a bit camera-shy. I’m perfectly comfortable playing music in front of any number of people, but knowing I’m being filmed adds a layer of stress. As I’ve mentioned before, when we record live albums or film live shows, we don’t redo things if we mess up. We run the show straight through as usual. I believe that doing something twice takes away the initial energy and makes it feel stale.

The show was a success, though there was a lot of behind-the-scenes drama, but that’s a story for another time. It premiered on PBS in Sacramento and received fantastic ratings. It brought in more pledge money for the station than any other show with them to date. The special was picked up across the country and aired regularly, which led us to putting together a tour as well. This album captures the live audio recorded from that special.
