INSIDE THE ALBUM with Frankie:
I’m always playing music at home. Whether I’m recording in my studio, sitting at the piano for fun, or just strumming an acoustic guitar on the couch, it’s my favorite way to spend time. Sometimes, I’ll sit at the piano and re-arrange old songs we’ve written, purely for fun and my own listening pleasure.
One day, I was doing just that when Tony suggested we record an album of these re-imagined tracks. I dismissed the idea at first, saying, “Nobody wants to hear this—I’m just noodling.” But after some convincing, we headed up to the studio, hit record, and I played through a bunch of our songs, one after another. It was as simple as that. And just like that, “Pianoforte” was born.
The album is a straightforward, relaxing record, perfect for unwinding—even for me. I’m glad we added it to our catalogue because it’s quite different from anything else we’ve done. To our surprise, it debuted at Number 1 on Billboard’s Classical and Classical Crossover Charts, knocking Andrea Bocelli down to the number 2 spot. It was surreal, especially considering the whole album was recorded in about an hour.
