INSIDE THE ALBUM with Frankie:
Rock ‘n’ Roll music is the most exhilarating experience to play live—it’s like unleashing a cannon of pure energy. We wanted to create an album that captured that intensity, something a bit harder and edgier than our usual sound. I was deep into listening to a lot of Beatles music while working on this project, aiming to blend driving guitar riffs with melodic vocal lines.
I reached out to my brother Tony, who was spending some time in Hawaii. I shared an idea with him for what would eventually become the title track, “Red.” Initially, the concept was inspired by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, focusing on the chaos and destruction of war. However, after some time passed, we went on tour and worked on other recordings, so the album was put on hold. When we returned to it, the original theme no longer resonated, so we rewrote it entirely, taking the album in a new direction. We kept the rock intensity but shifted the concept, and the record started to take shape. We kept it more guitar-driven, with fewer piano elements, making it a very electric experience.
